Sýn — Team Member Guide

👋 Quick start

Sýn rewards you for showing up. Just by chatting, reacting, and RSVPing to events you earn XP and climb the levels. Standout play earns Saga Points. Everything below is available to you as a member — all the slash commands reply privately, so only you see the result.

⌨️ Your commands

📊 /rank YOU

Purpose: See the lifetime-XP leaderboard and your place on it.
How to use: Type /rank for the top 20 (your own row is always pinned at the bottom), or /rank @player to check someone else.
Example: /rank
Result: A private message with your level, total XP, rank, and a progress bar to your next level.
Notes: Only you see the reply. Works in any channel.

🏆 /saga YOU

Purpose: See the Saga Points leaderboard and your standing.
How to use: /saga for the top 10 with your row pinned at the bottom, or /saga @player to check someone.
Example: /saga @Morveril
Result: A private leaderboard of Saga Points. You'll only show up once you've earned some.

❓ /ask TEAM CHANNELS

Purpose: Get answers about what's going on without bugging a leader.
How to use: /ask <your question> in a team channel. It pulls from the announcements and the diplomacy thread, plus a community FAQ that leadership keeps updated.
Example: /ask what's the latest announcement?
Result: A private answer based on the posted info. If it doesn't know, it'll tell you to ask a leader rather than make something up.
✅ Objectives and emergencies now work: These used to get you a flippant one-liner, because the objective and emergency threads had never been set up. Both threads have since been folded into Announcements, so just ask normally — "what's the objective?" or "is anything urgent going on?" now reads the announcements like any other question.

📚 Asking leadership a question AUTOMATIC

What happens: If you @mention the leadership role with a question — like "what are we doing today?" — Sýn may jump in first with the answer (pulled from the announcements/objectives it already knows, or the community FAQ) so you're not left waiting. It understands casual typing, so you don't have to word it perfectly.
Good to know: Leaders still see your ping either way — if the bot doesn't know, it just stays quiet and a human follows up. It never guesses; it only tells you what leadership has actually posted.

🌐 Translate — OFF ON THIS SERVER

Short version: Sýn does not do translation on the ONYX server. We already have a separate translate bot here, and running two would just mean two replies to every message. So Sýn's /translate and its right-click Apps → Translate are switched off for us — you won't see them in the menus, and if you do find them they'll politely tell you another bot handles it here.
What to use instead: The existing translate bot, exactly as you always have. Nothing about your day changes — this note exists only so that "Sýn has a translate feature" doesn't send you hunting for a command that isn't there for us.
Why the feature still exists at all: Sýn is also in an allied server we work with for diplomacy, and translation is genuinely needed there. Same bot, same feature — turned on for them, off for us.
⚠️ Flag reactions: Reacting with a country flag (🇫🇷 🇪🇸 …) is not a supported feature and does nothing on this server. If you saw it produce a translation here in the past, that's old behaviour that's now switched off.
Can it come back?: Yes — it's a switch, not a removal. If the other translate bot ever goes away, leadership can turn Sýn's back on for us in seconds. Ask a leader if you think it's needed.

📋 /roster & /roster-search TEAM CHANNELS

Purpose: View the official roster or check if someone's on it.
How to use: /roster shows the full list; /roster-search <name> finds one player (partial names work).
Example: /roster-search spy
Result: A private roster list, or a ✅/❌ telling you if the player was found.
⚠️ If it comes back empty: Very occasionally /roster returns an empty list and /roster-search can't find anyone. That means the bot failed to load the roster when it last started up — nothing has been deleted, and it clears itself the next time the bot restarts. Tell a leader rather than re-adding yourself.

ℹ️ !commands TEAM CHANNELS

Purpose: A quick reminder of the commands you can use.
How to use: Type !commands in a team channel.
Result: A short, self-deleting list of your slash commands.

⭐ XP & levels

⭐ Earning XP AUTOMATIC

Purpose: Reward you for being active. XP never resets.
How to earn: Chatting: 10 XP per message (max once a minute). Reacting: 5 XP per emoji reaction. RSVPing to an event: 25 XP (once per event).
Leveling: XP builds toward levels — quick early on, much harder past level 25 and again past 100.
Result: When you level up, the bot announces it right in the channel. Check your progress anytime with /rank.
Notes: The leaderboard channels themselves don't give XP.

🏆 Saga Points

🏆 The prestige track PARTICIPATE

Purpose: Recognize standout in-game performance — the community's prestige ranking.
How to earn: Play well in operations (pathing, siege MVP, final hit, and other objectives). Post your proof in the claims channel — confirmed achievements are added to your total.
Season rewards: Saga resets each season. When it does, the top 10 earn lifetime-XP bonuses (the bigger your finish, the bigger the bonus).
Result: Your points show on the team leaderboard and via /saga.
Notes: Points are earned through real achievement — keep showing up and making plays.

📅 Events & RSVP

⏰ Event reminders & RSVP EVERYONE

Purpose: Make sure you never miss a scheduled op, and show whether you're coming.
How to use: About an hour before a scheduled event, the bot posts a reminder with ✅ In, ❌ Out, and ❔ Maybe buttons. Tap one to RSVP — tap a different one anytime to change your answer.
Example: Tap ✅ In on the reminder post
Result: The post updates live with who's In / Out / Maybe, and you earn 25 XP for RSVPing (once per event).
⚠️ On a big turnout: Once the three lists get long enough, the post stops updating — it looks like a finished list rather than a full one. Your tap still counted, and so does your XP; you just may not see your name appear. If you don't see yourself on a busy op, don't tap repeatedly — say so in chat so leadership has the real headcount.
Notes: No command needed — just watch for the reminder and tap a button.

🏅 Leaderboards

🏅 Live leaderboard channels VIEW

Purpose: See the standings any time without running a command.
How to use: Open the team leaderboard channel (Saga Points + Lifetime XP) or the chill-zone leaderboard (Lifetime XP).
Result: A pinned-style message the bot keeps updated automatically (refreshes every few minutes).
⚠️ If you see two: After an update the bot can occasionally leave a second, frozen leaderboard in the channel. The one that keeps changing is the real one; the stale copy needs a leader to delete it. Your XP and points are unaffected either way — /rank and /saga always read the live numbers.
Notes: Want your personal rank with a progress bar? Use /rank or /saga.

🌍 Live Diplomacy Board VIEW

Purpose: See where every outside faction stands with us at a glance — who's an ally, who's neutral, who's an enemy.
How to use: Open the Diplomacy thread. The bot keeps one board message there with the legend (🟢 Ally · 🟡 Neutral · 🔴 Enemy) and a line for each faction.
Result: The board always shows the current standings — the bot rewrites that same message in place whenever leadership changes a relationship, so it's never out of date.
Notes: View-only — leadership manages the standings. If a faction's colour changes, that's the real, current status.

💬 Chill zone

💬 Banter JUST FOR FUN

Purpose: Keep the chill channel lively.
How to use: Just hang out and chat in the chill-zone channel.
Result: Every so often the bot jumps in with a short, witty one-liner. No command, no setup — just vibes.
Notes: It's rate-limited, so it won't spam the channel.
